Kiril Petkov, co-chairman of the We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) coalition, has expressed regret over entering into a joint government with GERB-SDS. In an interview with BNR, Petkov stated that the coalition made a "big mistake" by partnering with GERB, as they did not fully understand the extent of GERB leader Boyko Borisov's dependence on DPS co-chairman Ahmed Dogan.
Petkov's primary goal is to expose Borisov's reliance on Dogan and demonstrate that Borisov is incapable of independent decision-making. He has asserted that PP-DB will only consider participating in a coalition government after the next elections if Borisov severs his ties with Dogan.
Petkov has vehemently denied accusations of patronizing a smuggling channel in the customs and falsifying documents related to sea beaches. He maintains that these allegations are attempts to discredit him and his party by diverting attention away from their genuine ideas for Bulgaria's future. Petkov emphasizes that his efforts have successfully preserved the beaches of Karol, Karadere, and Irakli, along with a 500-meter strip behind them.
