Union Minister Piyush Goyal Affirms India's Commitment to Nepal's Development

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, emphasized India's enduring partnership with Nepal during the third Nepal Investment Summit. In a video message, Goyal reiterated India's role as a steadfast friend and reliable partner in Nepal's development journey, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and shared vision for a prosperous future between the two nations. Additionally, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, echoed Goyal's sentiments during the inaugural session of the Summit, assuring support for Indian companies looking to invest in Nepal.

Srivastava further emphasized the importance of investment promotion in Nepal from India, highlighting its potential to not only enhance trade facilities but also create more trade opportunities, thus enriching bilateral relations. He specifically pointed out the significance of Nepal's power exports to India in strengthening the economic ties between the two countries. The ambassador also reaffirmed India's commitment to bolstering investment in Nepal, showcasing the active collaboration between the two nations in various sectors, including infrastructure development such as integrated check posts, trans-border electricity transmission facilities, and energy trade.

Moreover, Srivastava expressed satisfaction in India being the largest cumulative investor in Nepal, holding over 33% of Nepal's foreign direct investment stock, which currently stands at nearly 89 billion Nepali rupees. Through these investments and collaborations, both Nepal and India aim to foster mutual growth and prosperity while deepening their strategic and economic ties for the benefit of both nations.
